The Max Arco Mastromichalis Foundation 5K
Join us on Sunday, April 26 at 9 am (check-in begins at 8 am) for The Max Arco Mastromichalis Foundation 5K — a fun, community-centered race created to honor Max’s legacy and raise funds for graduating George Washington High School seniors each year. Max was passionate about fitness, determination, and living life with a full heart, making this fundraiser a meaningful way to celebrate the values he lived by.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
1. Register for the 5K
Lace up and be part of a special event dedicated to supporting local students and carrying forward Max’s spirit. Walk, run, skip…anyone is welcome to participate.
What: A simple, fun up-and-back 5K! Race route found here:
Why: Your participation helps fund annual scholarships awarded to George Washington High School seniors who demonstrate hard work, kindness, and commitment — qualities Max embodied every day.
The Details: Your race registration comes with a shirt and number. Pick-up will occur Saturday, April 25 at the GW parking lot between 5 and 7 pm. Registration costs $65.
Day of: Check-in begins at 8 am, Race starts at 9 am.
One of our generous sponsors, Fife Street Brewing, will be opening an hour earlier at 10 am so you can enjoy a drink and burger named in Max’s honor! A portion of the proceeds will go to the Foundation. First, second, and third place finishers (who are 21 and up) get a free pint!
2. Sponsor the 5K
Want your brand in front of participants? A $450 sponsorship gets your logo on the back of the race T-shirt and on this web page. All sponsorships must be in by April 5.

About Max
Max Arco Mastromichalis was a kind, determined young man whose heart touched everyone around him. A proud student and lacrosse player at George Washington High School, he was known for his quiet strength, genuine empathy, and deep love for his family, friends, and teammates.
Whether he was competing on the field, focusing in the classroom, or sharing a laugh with friends, Max brought warmth and sincerity to every moment. His ability to lift others up and make them feel valued left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy continues to inspire kindness, perseverance, and community.
